Tutor:
Jess Lucas
This course is aimed at beginners or people interested in learning the basic sewing skills i.e. how to insert a zip correctly, understanding darts, seam allowance and learning how to use interfacing. You will make a toile skirt and put all these techniques into practice. This helps students to understand how a garment is constructed, and they’re totally relaxed because they can make mistakes, without the worry of damaging good material. It is easier to learn when you are not afraid of making mistakes, or worrying about the garment fitting you.

We will also look at industrial patterns and learn the vocabulary & symbols.

Sewing machines available.

Jess has worked in the world of Design, Fashion and Bridal Alterations for over 25 years. Jess loves to share this wealth of knowledge in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Passing on her passion for sewing is always a joy. Helping people to discover the wonderful world of sewing, and seeing their delight in their achievements is a most rewarding feeling. Jess believes we all need somewhere to escape to every now and again, and she sincerely believes that sewing is a fantastic way of doing just that.
