- Successful completion of interview.

- Candidates must be in a position to obtain Garda Clearance

- Candidates must supply two written references (character, work or educational).

- Students must also obtain practical work experience in a HSE registered Care Facility during the second term. Students must source this work experience placement themselves.

Progression
Learners who have successfully completed this award could expect to find employment in hospitals, nursing homes, or in the community. This award facilitates entry on a competitive basis through the CAO to a range of third level institutions nationwide leading to awards at a higher level on the National Framework of Qualifications. This award also enables learners application through UCAS to access a range of Nursing Degree programmes in UK universities.

Student who study this QQI Level 5 will gain entry into the first year of any of our three year nursing courses.

Entry Requirements:
QQI Level 5 Pre-Nursing – Minimum Pass profile overall.

Maths – Minimum O4 or QQI Level 5 Maths – Pass Profile

The University will be able to advise if don’t have either Maths.

Course Description
This course combines academic and practical learning to enable you to build up the essential knowledge and skills for Nursing and other Health related careers. Nursing Theory & Practice and Care skills are taught by a Clinical Nurse Practitioner. The programme will prepare you for entry to a Degree in Nursing Studies or Social Care Studies in Ireland, the UK or Scotland. It is suitable for those that have recently completed the Leaving Certificate and experienced mature persons seeking a formal qualification. This QQI Level 5 certificate will also give you the practical skills and expertise necessary to enter employment as a healthcare assistant in a Hospital, Nursing Home, or other healthcare setting.
