Social Studies -Psychology - Counselling
This course is for those interested in the study of behaviour and the human mind. It is designed to provide learners with an introductory understanding of psychology and of human interactions with society. Learners will also develop basic counselling skills, alongside critical and academic competency.

Entry Requirements
Leaving Cert Standard or Equivalent. Mature students welcome. A good level of English (Leaving Cert 02) will be required to be successful in this course. Please contact the college for further details.

Educational Progression
There are excellent progression links via CAO to Social Studies UCD (DN700 L8) and Maynooth (MH107 ) and to a range of Applied Social Studies and Social Care Degrees offered through Technological University Dublin TU996 Social Care (Grangegorman) and TU991 Applied Social Studies and Social care (Blanchardstown). Mature entry routes are also available.
On completion of the course students can also access our QQI level 6 course in Psychology of Integration and Rehabilitation.

Employment may be sought in a range of junior social care settings.

COSTS
Registration Fee - €50
Registration fee is non refundable, and secures course place.
Course charges - under review for reduction, max €150 in 2022/2023.
Many additional exemptions from fees for medical card holders, those in Receipt of the SUSI grant, Back to Education Allowance or VTOS.
Students may apply for a grant through www.susi.ie
Some students are eligible for places on VTOS courses or through the DSP through back to education allowance.
Applications for Further Education courses are open in mid December each year.
