You should be at least 17 years of age.

One references must be uploaded to your online application page.

Leaving Certificate standard is required; or Pass Level (120 credits) in the Leaving Certificate Applied. Individual courses may have specific additional requirements. These will be outlined in the course descriptions for each course.

Relevant work experience or training will be considered.

All full-time day courses are €50. This is a non-refundable registration charge.

Students undertaking any full time Further Education course may apply for a means tested maintenance grant. Application forms are available from www.susi.ie. Students from designated disadvantaged partnership areas may be eligible for financial assistance towards course charges.

FEATURES OF THE COURSE
This course meets an increasing need for trained support staff across the growing mental health service sector.

Structured work experience organised by college in hospitals/healthcare facilities two days per week (November to May) and in block placement. Work experience organised by the College is subject to an interview process.

Course work is active and experiential, including manual handling, first aid and the practical competencies of a Healthcare Assistant.

NOTES: Students taking up work experience placements in healthcare facilities must provide evidence of vaccination against or immunity to specified conditions. Students will be required to satisfy this requirement prior to placement (further information from the College Office)
