Courses are evening, weekend and part-time with a blended learning approach, some theory classes via zoom and or recorded. Notes for classes can be accessed via Media platform.

Entry Requirements

It is recommended that student have achieved a level of education equivalent to level 3 qualification in sports massage. However, exemptions may be made for adult who are returning to education with experience in the workplace, they may be required to take the examination at Level 3 in either Holistic Massage or Sports Massage.

Application Procedure
1. Return the completed application form to the College office.

2. Send the correct Deposit as per course or the deposit that has been agreed with the college. Courses places are only reserved on payment of the deposit.

3. Deposits will be returned if student is unsuccessful in obtaining a place on their chosen course.

4. Once accepted on the course your deposit is non- refundable.

5. Early application is advised as classes are small to allow for individual attention.

Introduction.
This UK Level 4 Sports Massage offers the most wide-ranging, up to date curriculum and advanced Sports Massage Therapy course in Ireland. It enables the therapist to gain the practical and theoretical skills necessary to provide Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy for specific injuries as per iTEC syllabus.

It utilises palpation, posture, joint ROM (Range of movement), orthopaedic test, active, passive, and resistive tests to evaluate the natures and severity of the injury which enables the therapist to assemble a specific rehabilitation programme for the client. It is designed for therapists currently working in Sport and Active Leisure and includes pre, post, inter, maintenance, restorative and corrective massage techniques which included myofascial release and neuromuscular trigger points review section 3 below.

This Course has been designed for Therapists who are currently working in the Sport and Active leisure, Including Osteopaths, Physiotherapy, Sports Therapists and Massage therapists. This specialised qualification is to enrich practitioners’ understanding of advanced anatomical, physiological and pathological principals relevant to the application of Sports Massage. Therapists will learn to critically evaluate massage strategies and methods to inform on future treatment.

Synopsis of Syllabus:
1. Conducting Subjective and Objective assessments. Structural and functional anatomy of the major joints. Posture assessment and posture types. Common posture deviations and sports specific postures. Patho-physiology of common injuries and Soft Tissue Dysfunction. Range of movement (ROM) and Orthopaedic tests as per syllabus.

2. Treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair. Treatment modalities to support tissue repair: PRICE – Cryotherapy, Thermotherapy – Contrast baths. Acute v Chronic treatments Ladders of rehabilitation

3. Sports Massage Techniques to prevent and manage soft tissue dysfunction.

A range of soft tissue techniques will be studied.
