Careers / Further progression

By taking other Level 5 modules, students may be able to build towards a full award of QQI Certificate in Horticulture.
This module is worth 15 credits which can be counted towards further studies at Level 5.

Students who do not wish to pursue a full-time horticultural programme with Teagasc can opt to complete a single module or a number of modules on a part-time basis.

This module offers participants a chance to complete work practice with Teagasc approved horticultural hosts. Work practice is a mandatory module at Level 5. Learners must complete 40 days of work practice, some of which will be in the Botanic Gardens and the remainder with an external host.

The course must be completed in an 8 week block - with hours depending on the terms of the host - commencing in March and running through to April. It is mandatory that students will be paid a weekly sum by their placement host.

Module Content
Summarize the distinguishing features of the organization, institution or horticultural host
Work independently and professionally, completing a minimum of 40 days work practice on a Teagasc approved centre/site.
Contribute positively as a member of an organization or team
Review personal and professional learning.
