This two-year programme is aimed at staff currently working in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector who are looking to advance their careers by achieving a qualification at degree level. The programme aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to fulfill a variety of leadership roles within the Early Childhood Education and Care sector.

This programme will run over two academic years. The proposed commencement date for Year 1 is Saturday 16th September 2023 with a half day induction on the Thurles campus. The programme uses a blended learning approach with a mix of online delivery and classroom based workshops - Tuesdays and Thursdays (online) from 7-9pm and 3 Saturday workshops per semester alternating between Thurles and Limerick Campuses (attendance in person required).
Dates for Saturday workshops for Semester 1 are 14th October, 2023, 11th November, 2023 & 9th December 2023, exact campus location for each date will be confirmed prior to induction. Details of Saturday workshops in Semester 2 are to be confirmed.
Entry Requirements
What are the entry requirements?
Applicants may apply if they hold a QQI Level 6 (or equivalent) qualification which is recognised by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) as meeting the criteria for ‘ECCE Room Leader (Standard Capitation)’. Applicants must currently be working in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector and continue to do so for the duration of the course.

Applications will be assessed on a first come first served basis and priority will be given to those who meet the minimum entry requirements.
Careers / Further progression
Successful participants of this programme may go on to complete the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Early Childhood Education and Care.

The full fee for this two year programme is €4,500 (€2,250 per annum). Fees will be collected on an annual basis. This programme has secured part funding through County Tipperary Chamber Skillnet. For eligible applicants to the Level 7 programme the funding for Year 1 will be at a rate of 30% of the original fee of €2,250 i.e. €675. The balance of fees i.e. €1,575 is payable by the student directly to County Tipperary Chamber Skillnet. Please note that funding is limited and is available on a first come basis to eligible applicants.

The assessment strategy for this programme includes both formative and summative elements including: written assignments, projects, portfolios, skills demonstration and examination.
Professional practice placement is a core requirement and can be completed in the participant’s existing place of employment.
