€120. Ingredients will be provided at an extra cost of approximately €45.

This 8 week course introduces the students to the tastes and flavours of Asia. The tutor, Colette Walker, is a trained chef having lived and worked in Australia and South East Asia for 15 years before coming back to Ireland to work in private catering, specialising in Asian food.

The class is aimed at anyone looking to expand their repertoire of dishes and learn how to use the wide range of authentic Asian ingredients that are readily available in Irish supermarkets and stores.

Ideally the student will have some knowledge of cooking but the course is more about the use of ingredients rather than the need to master complicated techniques. Having said that, lots of cooking tips and techniques are included as we go along.

The first night is a demonstration class but every other night is a hands-on cooking class where you will be paired up with a partner and will cook up to three dishes on the night. The last 15 minutes of every class will be an opportunity to collect as a group and taste the fruits of the night’s labours!

Dishes range from Thai, Indian, Indonesian, Vietnam and Chinese. The course includes quick and easy meals for one or two, dishes the whole family will enjoy to fabulous dishes ideal to cook for dinner parties to wow your guests! Examples of some of the dishes included are Pad Thai, Teriyaki Chicken, Vietnamese Noodle Salad, Rogan Josh and Nasi Goreng. Students also have the opportunity to suggest dishes that they would like to prepare, so every course is tailored to the needs and interests of that particular group.

In many cooking classes, students are expected to bring their own ingredients. However, to reduce both the effort that involves, and the expense of each student having to buy all the ingredients separately, the tutor will bring all the ingredients to the class and the cost of the ingredients are then divided out across the students in 2 payments. Generally – the total cost for the ingredients works out at approximately €45 per person. Please note, this is in addition to the cost of the course itself.

So, what do you have to bring? As all the ingredients will be brought for you, all you need to bring is an apron (if desired) and containers to take your dishes home with you.

The class is very sociable and lots of fun and you’ll have 30 new recipes to enjoy recreating at home by the end of it!

Tutor: Colette Walker.
