Have you ever wanted to learn to play the guitar but didn't know where to start? Well what better way to start than by joining an evening class where you can learn in a fun, group environment. This is a great opportunity to learn the basics and gain confidence in playing the guitar over an eight-week course.

This course is aimed at beginners; No experience is required. You must have your own instrument. Advice on what guitar to purchase will be provided by the tutor on the first evening if you don't already have one.

But it is recommended that you purchase your guitar in advance of the course starting. When purchasing your new guitar, make sure the guitar is correctly set up with regard to intonation (tone) and playing action. A medium strength plectrum, a clip on tuner and a notebook are also required for the course.

Course content:
- An understanding of the various parts of the guitar

- The strings, holding the instrument, tuning, hand co-ordination, and all the fundamentals needed to establish a good foundation to develop your playing skills.

- Basic chords and strumming patterns which can be adapted to some well-known popular songs.

- Students will be introduced to music notation for the guitar.

The course will be delivered in a fun and relaxing style and will incorporate the musical interests of the students. At the end of the course, you'll have gained the basic foundations in guitar playing which will enable you to progress your skills to the next level.
