Open to those who have completed the Leaving Certificate or its equivalent. Entry is also open to students with good written English and a keen interest in journalism. Mature applicants are welcome. Evidence of writing ability will strongly aid your application.

Overview
The digital revolution has changed the way organisations, politicians, companies, clubs and community groups - communicate with the general public, with profound implications for both the media and wider industry.

This course aims to provide knowledge, qualifications and experience that will:

1. Aid progression to higher education via the Higher Education Links Scheme

2. Enable students to get a foothold directly into journalism and associated media professions, such as Public Relations

3. Generate advanced communications skills that are directly transferable to many other roles in wider industry

In addition to the core tasks of idea generation, research and writing techniques, learners receive instruction on industry-standard page-layout software for newspapers, magazines and digital publications, plus audio and visual software for radio and video productions.

Successful completion opens up a wide range of third level progression options in both media and non-media fields.
