Entry Requirements

IT requirements to join our courses:
All students are required to bring to class a fully-charged laptop (with audio and video) and headphones to ensure full participation and access to course materials and a more valuable student experience. A reliable internet connection is required (this is provided by UCC for on-campus students). You should download Microsoft Teams to your laptop before starting your course. UCC recommends the use of Chrome browser for best interaction with all its applications. Please note that a laptop is a device that is suitable for study purposes and students who use another device such as a tablet will not be able to access some functions. A smartphone is not considered to be a suitable device for study purposes.

On completion of your course, you can register for another SW Programme (provided you have not exceeded 3 x 8-month permissions) OR you can re-register for another General or Academic English programme. Please enquire to infolang@ucc.ie

Who is this programme for?
The Study/Work Programme (8 months) is open to EU and non-EU applicants. Non-EEA students may be granted permission for a maximum of three language courses. This amounts to total immigration permission of two years (3 x 8 months).

Students can choose to study for either 20 or 16 hours per week for 25 weeks, and use the remainder of their time to work or holiday. Non-EU students can choose to work up to 20 hours per week while attending class and up to 40 hours per week between 15 December and 15 January and between 01 May and 31 August. UCC's Careers Service have a range of digital tools available. These resources will help you prepare and review your CV, get ready for interviews and learn more about transitioning to the workplace.
