This course is particularly aimed for part-time students who have knowledge of the Building Engineering industry or who wish to up/re-skill in the industry. Qualifying students will be assessed, during the application process for suitability on the course.

Entry Requirements
Minimum Entry Requirements?
Leaving Certificate students: Leaving Certificate or equivalent with passes in Mathematics and English or Irish and at least three other subjects. Students would also be normally employed in the Building Engineering or related discipline before commencing the course.
Mature students: Mature students will be considered on an individual basis and is subject to receipt of a CV and relevant work experience.
Careers / Further progression
The Building Engineer works closely with other engineering disciplines such as architects, structural engineers and quantity surveyors on construction projects. The range of services required in buildings is continuously expanding offering graduates challenging and rewarding careers within the industry from the design, construction, manufacturing, sales, facilities and operational roles.
Upon successful completion of the Level 6 Higher Certificate programme in Building Engineering, students may opt to progress to the (Level 7) Ordinary Degree programme which is a further two years part-time to achieve a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Level 7) in Building Engineering. The delivery of the (Level 7) Ordinary Degree programme is shared with the whole-time TU703 programme (common lectures).

The Engineers Ireland fully accredited programme meets the academic requirements for the status of Higher Certificate (Level 6) in Building Engineering. The course modules are delivered with similar part-time engineering disciplines, for the quantitate modules, and with the whole time Building Engineering equivalents for the applied modules. Upon successful completion of the Higher Level Certificate, students can opt to do an additional two years part-time for an Ordinary Degree in Building Engineering (Level 7) by entering year 1 of the (Level 7) Ordinary Degree programme.
