Course Delivery
One four hour lab class either on a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning AND two evenings per week which will be either online or face to face for each semester.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirements:
The programme open to applicants who have a QQI Level 5 qualification in an engineering discipline and who are currently in employment in the manufacturing or processing sector.

Career Opportunities
Participants who successfully complete this course can progress to take modules on the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Systems.

Participants will be exposed to terminology, electrical and electronic devices related to DC and AC circuits. Participants will be able to interpret, test and measure basic DC circuits.

An understanding of sensors and their signal conditioning will be obtained using light, heat and strain sensors. A basic introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) will be undertaken. Participants will be familiar with hardware used in Local Area Network (LAN) and develop the ability to solve primary level faults in a LAN.
