Entry Requirements

The entry requirement for the Bachelor of Science in Exercise & Health Fitness is as follows:

NCEF Diploma in Exercise & Health Fitness (DEHF), NFQ Level 7, at Honours grade level 2.2 or higher.

Please note:
Applications for equivalency from students without the Diploma in Exercise and Health Fitness will be assessed on an individual basis through the NCEF/UL Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Scheme.

A Recognition of Prior Learning fee of €125 applies to all applicants required to submit an application. If your application is successful and you are offered a place on the programme, this fee is deducted from the overall programme fee.

Careers / Further progression

Employment varies from middle to senior business management with the necessary business skills in the areas of financial accounting, marketing, human resources, multimedia and event management to oversee a small to medium sized business. Graduates also work in both public and private businesses, public service areas such as health promotion, and researching/developing policy for diverse populations.

The NCEF Bachelor of Science in Exercise & Health Fitness is scheduled to commence in the University of Limerick on Tuesday, 19th September 2023.

The NCEF Bachelor of Science in Exercise & Health Fitness (BSc.) programme fee is €3,725

Option 1: Full Fee Payment
Payment of €3,725 (including a non-refundable deposit of €995) on acceptance of your place on the course.

Option 2: (2 Payments) Total Fees €3,725

Non-refundable deposit payment of €995 due on acceptance of your place on the course.

The balance of fees, €2,730 is due on or before Friday, 11th August 2023 at the latest.

Once students are registered, all fees paid are non-refundable/non-transferable.

In compliance with Section 65(4)(a) of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012, Learner Protection arrangements have been put in place with Arachas Insurance, should the NCEF cease to provide this programme before learners have completed awards.

Funding:
This programme is eligible for SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland) funding however, funding decisions are based on an individual’s personal circumstances. You may apply through www.susi.ie to see if you qualify. The SUSI course code reference is LMAA905.

Students have also secured funding or part funding in the past from other local government support agencies however this is on a completely individual basis.

It is important to note that all NCEF courses must be fully paid before a student commences. If SUSI funding is allocated to students, this is reimbursed to the student upon receipt of payments from the University of Limerick Fees Office. Please be prepared to wait for a refund for 6+ months and payments are split, based on confirmation of student attendance in the Autumn and Spring semesters.

B.Sc in Exercise & Health Fitness
Graduates of the NCEF Bachelor of Science in Exercise & Health Fitness are qualified to provide direction, leadership and professional expertise at the highest management & promotional levels in the exercise & health fitness sector.

The BSc. course consists of nine modules including the Final Year Project (FYP). It has a strong business and management emphasis, preparing students for employment in managerial or entrepreneurial roles.

On successful completion of the course, students will graduate from the University of Limerick with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health Fitness.
