A student over 16 years seeking entry to this programme does not need a previous formal qualification. Should the student have previous qualifications, one of the following may be advantageous for admission to the programme:
- Leaving Certificate/LCA
- QQI Level 4 Award
- Mature students welcome
- If English is not your first language you may be asked to complete an English assessment
- Students who may not have formal academic requirements but who have the ability to successfully participate on the course will be considered. (RPL Recognition of Prior Learning)

CAREER/PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES
Our Banking and Financial Services course provides you with a unique and competitive skill set, essential for working in the banking and financial services industry. This one - year course is approved by the Central Bank of Ireland as well as the leading financial institutions.

On completion of this course you could be presented with many options. You will be able to work in a bank, credit union, insurance company or work for a business that arranges finance for their clients such as car dealerships. Finance graduates are sought after by many public services.

Those looking to work in industry will learn key skills in networking and team working, essential for any 21st Century role. Applied economics will educate you about Irish and international business, giving you key insights about different economies. Spreadsheet knowledge is highly sought after in any business or financial area and is an essential key skill you will master.

For those wishing to progress to further study, statistics offers an alternative entry pathway in lieu of the study of mathematics for many sought after courses. Progression is offered to leading Business, Finance and Accounting degrees in DCU, UCD, TU & NCI with participating Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) through the QQI Higher Education Links Scheme.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
The college welcomes applications from qualified international applicants. Non-EU learners whose visas do not confer access to publicly funded education may be required to pay a course fee of €3654 for their course if eligible. For further details, please contact the college. Applicants who are in the international protection system and have been granted permission to work are not eligible for the €3654 non-EU fees. Applicants will be required to provide proof of their immigration status (eg. GNIB card, permission to work letter issued by the Department of Justice) as part of the enrolment process.

MATURE STUDENTS
The number of mature students attending Further Education courses in Marino College is increasing each year and at present constitutes a significant proportion of our total numbers. Mature students are very welcome and Learner Supports will pay particular attention to their learning needs.

SPECIALISATION
During the second semester, you will be encouraged to embark on a career pathway in becoming a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA). Many of our students graduate with their QQI Level 5 Certificate in Business Studies plus two specific banking qualifications that is recognised by the Central Bank of Ireland

HOW WILL I LEARN?
You will have a mixture of classroom-based subjects and independent study. You will be expected to complete assignments throughout the year. Course work will consist of a combination of onsite & online learning.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
A full Award is granted on passing the relevant eight components. You will be assessed throughout and at the end of the year (Continuous Assessment). On successful completion of each component, you will be awarded a Pass, a Merit or a Distinction grade.
