This is the starting point for a successful and varied career in science. In year one, all the science subjects are taught (biology, physics and chemistry) as well as mathematics, information technology and learning to learn.

Duration
1 year in Cavan Institute, joining the second year of one of the Science programmes in ATU Sligo and after successful completion of the third year will graduate with a BSc (Ordinary). Option to progress to the fourth year and obtain a BSc (Hons).
Entry Requirements
Leaving certificate candidates, please refer to the ATU - Sligo website for entry requirements. Students who have achieved a QQI level 5 award are also eligible to apply. QQI applicants should check with ATU - Sligo to ensure that they present with the appropriate modules.

After successful completion of the first year at Cavan Institute, students will move to ATU - Sligo, choosing one of four Level 7 science programmes: - Environmental Science Pharmaceutical Science Biomedical Science Occupational Safety & Health They will join the second year of one of these programmes and after successful completion of the third year will graduate with a BSc (Ordinary). They may then progress to the fourth year and obtain a BSc (Hons).

June 1st is the closing date for receipt of applications for first round offers. However, applications will be accepted and processed on courses where places are available following this date and second round offers will be made to eligible applicants who apply after that date.
After successful completion of the first year at Cavan Institute, students will move to IT Sligo, choosing one of four Level 7 science programmes: -

They will join the second year of one of these programmes and after successful completion of the third year will graduate with a BSc (Ordinary). They may then progress to the fourth year and obtain a BSc (Hons).
Students will visit ATU - Sligo several times during this first year to become familiar with the campus and science programmes, meet students, access supports and do experiments. One of the first year subjects taken by students at Cavan Institute will be an online introduction to the science programmes available to them from second year at ATU - Sligo.
