This is a one-year, full-time course with hands on tuition from craft practitioners, where learners will develop and explore their creative and technical skills and gain confidence to progress further in the field of contemporary craft, art and design.

Special Entry Requirements:
Successful completion of QQI/ FETAC
Level 5 in Art, Craft & Design or equivalent experience in all modules.
Applicants will be asked to present a portfolio of work samples at interview
Careers / Further progression
Progression:
• Based on the quality of their portfolio, learners may gain advanced entry to a range of 3rd level courses, including direct entry to second year of some degree courses.
• Opportunities to specialise in a chosen craft by progressing to courses such as DCCOI Pottery Skills course and DCCOI Jewellery Skills course.
• Self-employment.
Further information
Learners attending Further Education/Post Leaving Certificate programmes may apply to Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI). All applications for grants in respect of new enrolments will be made online for the 2022/23 academic year.
It is not necessary to have received an offer of a college place or to be enrolled at Ormonde College of Further Education in order to apply. The closing date is the end of August each year but you should apply as soon as possible once the 2022/23 applications are open. Early application is
advised.
These grants are means-tested and payable monthly. Payment of grants may be subject to attendance in accordance with the Department of Education and Skills regulations. The college is required to make monthly reports on your attendance to the grants authority.

First Round
• The closing date for the receipt of applications for the FIRST round of interviews is Friday 5th February 2021.
• Interviews for those who apply at this time will be scheduled during the week commencing Monday 22nd February 2021.
Second Round
• The closing date for the receipt of applications for the SECOND round of interviews is Friday 2nd April 2021.
• Interviews for those who apply at this time will be scheduled during the week commencing 19th April 2021.
Third Round
• The closing date for the receipt of applications for the THIRD round of interviews is Monday 24th May 2021.
• Interviews for those who apply at this time will be scheduled during the week commencing 7th May 2021.
• Applications received after this date will be processed subject to the availability of places in August/September.
Additional Information
• Please note that the FIRST and SECOND ROUND INTERVIEWS will be scheduled for the evening (approximately 4-7pm). This may suit those who are attending school or have other duties.
• As places on courses are limited and demand is high, early application is advised.
