Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied Programme, QQI Level 4 full major award or equivalent.
Work/life experience may be acceptable for mature students.
Students should be 16 years old or over at the start of the course.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject area and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Competent written and spoken English (CEFR B1 or higher).

Careers / Further progression

Career Options:
This course offers a range of skills in networking, programming and operating systems. Graduates may find employment in the I.T. industry. Alternatively they may wish to proceed to the ICT Associate Apprenticeship Programme through FIT or to study a course at Third Level.

Third Level Progression:
Computer Systems and Networks allows wide progression into numerous Computing related degrees at Third Level.
TU Dublin- Tallaght accept this course for all its Computing and Engineering related courses including Computing TU756, Cloud Computing TU865 and Computing with Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning TU862.

TU Dublin- Blanchardstown accept this course for a wide range of courses including Computing (Information Technology) TU860, Digital Forensics and Cyber Security TU863 and Computer Engineering in Mobile Systems TU807.

UCD have a degree programme Computer Science DN201 which accepts this award.

TU Dublin- Grangegorman offer a range of courses that follow on from this award including Game Design TU984 and Computer Science TU856.

Maynooth University: Robotics and Intelligent Devices MH306, Computer Science through Arts MH601 and Computer Science through Arts MH602.

In response to the cost-of-living crisis, DDLETB have implemented a significant reduction in fees for all domestic (EU, EEA, Stamp 4) students undertaking a PLC course in the 2024-2025 academic year.

The only fee payable for full-time and part-time courses in this academic year is: Non-refundable Deposit €50 
 All other charges including course-specific fees have been waived for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Non-EEA students: Non-EEA nationals should contact the college for details of entry requirements and fees.

Applications are open for 2024/2025 academic year. Application for all courses is online on the www. greenhillscollege.ie website (Application weblink above). Where courses are full, learners may be placed on a waiting list and allocated places as they become available.

The course is supported by F.I.T. (FastTrack to Information Technology), who provide supports such as CV writing and Interview Skills workshops along with mock interviews.
