The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to skillfully lead themselves, and other people, in work-related tasks and activities in a paid or voluntary capacity.

Student must be aged 17 or over on January 1st following entry to the course
Horticulture can be a physically demanding career path
Applicants should have a keen interest in learning and working in horticulture
Teagasc supports access for students with disabilities
Careers / Further progression
Students who wish to achieve the full Level 5 Certificate on a part-time basis must successfully complete all mandatory modules & one elective choice.
These modules must also be completed in order for a student to be eligible for Progression to other Teagasc Horticultural Courses.

The course will be offered in over a 25 week period. Students will be required to undertake class work and group activities surrounding leadership events and learner records. Assessment will be by the completion of a learner record and skills assessment.
Module Content
Draw up a personal leadership plan for a task, project or job, to include oral presentations, listening skills, making suggestions and giving feedback, written documents and correspondence.
Manage projects and tasks, to include working with a team on a practical project or task that results in effective team performance.
Handle group dynamics, to include facilitating the different roles that people play, conflict resolution, interacting with people who have diverse views and styles, teamwork and motivating others.
