Entry Requirements
Mature Students
Participants need to be 21 years of age or over on 1st January of the year in which the course commences. As courses are delivered in keeping with adult education practice, participants will be expected to: be willing to engage with group activities and group learning; be willing to learn through dialogue and reflection on experience; have a level of literacy that is sufficient to complete the assessment requirements.
Careers / Further progression
If participants wish to progress further, they may transfer their credits into the relevant part time degree programme (a Bachelor of Arts degree requires 180 credits).
Further information
A module is a block of learning in which a particular topic is taught and assessed. 5 credit modules require 24 hours of class contact and 48 hours of self directed learning.
Students may take single modules from one of these programmes. If they complete 4 modules (20 Credits), they will be awarded an NUI Maynooth Certificate (Level 7) in either Culture & Society (Community Studies programme) OR People Place and Heritage (Local Studies programme).
