Pre-Apprenticeship - Accounting Technician

We have created this innovative Pre Apprenticeship Pathways programme, which will be taught on site in Colaiste Ide.

Work experience will be provided, by Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI) with a registered apprenticeship employer. This placement will take place in line with COVID 19 Specific National Protocol for Employers and Workers.

1 year full-time.

Programme Structure:
The programme will be modular in its delivery and will consist of three terms:

Term One: 20th September 2021 - 22 December 2021.
Term Two: 04th January 2022 - 08 April 2022.
Term Three: 25th April 2022 - 01 July 2022.

Careers / Further progression

Progression
Following successful completion of this programme successful learners may progress to one of the Accounting Technicians Apprenticeship programmes in Coláiste Íde or another college within CDETB.

There is now no cost associated with making an application for a course.

A €50 registration cost (which is non-refundable) will be paid by the applicant at the point of acceptance of an offer of a place on a course.

In addition to the normal PLC registration fee, costs which up until now have been paid directly by a learner themselves for items such as uniforms, equipment or fees to external exam bodies will now be covered by City of Dublin ETB.

You may be exempt from paying QQI Exam Fees if you satisfy one of the following criteria:

You hold a full medical card in your own right
You are the dependent child of a full medical card holder
You are eligible for a student grant from SUSI (letter from SUSI required)
You are getting Back to Education Allowance or a VTOS allowance

Course Availability for Deaf Students
This one-year professional programme facilitates suitable Deaf students going on to a full Accounting Apprenticeship in 2024. After completing this course you will be qualified to enter the 2 year full-time Accounting Technician course. ISL interpreters are provided for all classes.

The modules for the first term have been chosen to ensure that learners can acquire and develop practical IT skills, which will form the basis from which they will study modules in Term 2.

It is important for learners to be aware, that all who come on to this programme with limited IT skills, will be provided with adequate tuition, which will act as a scaffold in supporting all modules.

CV preparation, skills audits, rights and responsibilities of employees, health & safety in the workplace, equality trends, socio economic issues and trends are areas of study that will be embedded in the teaching of the Work Experience module throughout the entire programme. Practical work experience in the work place will take place in Term 3.
