Entry Requirements

Five passes in the Leaving Certificate/Applied or QQI Level 4 or equivalent qualification. Prior learning and practical work experience taken into account at interview stage. Mature and international students are most welcome to apply. A number of VTOS places are available.

Graduates may enter employment in a range of care settings with this qualification e.g. working with people with disabilities, the homeless, older people or those with alcohol/drug dependency

We have many international students attending programmes in the college at the present time and their presence contributes greatly to the life of the college in terms of richness and diversity.

Means-tested maintenance grants are available to eligible students attending approved full-time courses of further education in approved Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) centres, of which Plunket College of Further Education is one. Applications can be made online to Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) through www.susi.ie.

Course Description
This course is ideally suited for students who wish to continue their education at third level or aspire to apprenticeships in the construction industry. It is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills associated with environmentally building and construction technology. The course enables students to develop practical skills in the areas sustainable construction technologies.

The course aim is to provide students with a thorough grounding in construction studies. The course enables students to develop practical skills in the areas of building construction and renewable energy systems.

Plunket College of Further Education intends offering the sustainable construction modules as an integral part of the course as Irelands National Skills Strategy – 2025 (DES, 2016) predicts ‘Green Economy Skills’ as a sector specific skills need. The inclusion of Information Technology modules will upskill participants for niche construction opportunities for employment or progression to Third Level.
