Irish Leaving Certificate
H3H4H4H4H4/H3H3H4H4 including grade H3 in Biology and H4 in Chemistry + if not offered at Higher Level then Ordinary Level grade O4 in Mathematics.
If not offered at Higher Level then Ordinary Level Chemistry grade O4 would be considered.

Research Technician
Northern Ireland has a growing science industry, with many entrepreneurs starting their own science-based businesses and seeking Research Technicians to support their business growth. The work may include duties such as planning and preparing investigations, working with customers or clients to devise analyses, performing laboratory work involving complex instrumentation and presenting findings.
Healthcare Science
The NHS employs a range of scientists with backgrounds in biology, chemistry and physics to support patients’ treatment. Examples include Biomedical Scientists, Medical Physicists, Clinical Physiologists, Paramedics, Clinical Biochemists, Radiographers and Audiologists. Alternatively, a range of private healthcare providers may employ people in these and similar roles.

Overview
This two-year, full-time course will provide you with a sound knowledge and understanding of the biological sciences. Development of your practical skills will be a priority and you will gain experience of techniques such as gel electrophoresis, tissue culture, HPLC, GC-MS and spectroscopy. You will be assessed through practical laboratory work, coursework and written examinations. Your learning will be supported by tutorial-style teaching and will require a commitment to independent study. A minimum attendance of 80 % is expected on all aspects of the course. In addition to the higher education tuition fee, an additional fee of £50 is required to defray expenses associated with residential field trips.
