Entry Requirements
Minimum
• Applicants must be 18+ years of age on entry to the course.
• Junior Certificate standard or equivalent.
• Mature applicant route available for applicants aged 23+.
• Competent written and spoken English (CEFR B1 or Higher).
• Non-EU/EEA applicants must have permission to work in Ireland.
• Must be able to swim 400m in under 9 minutes.
Additional
• Surfing experience is desirable.
• Previous experience in team-based outdoor pursuits is an advantage but not essential.
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
• Good numeracy skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Working with groups is desirable.
• Membership of sports clubs or teams is desirable.
• Garda vetting is a requirement for this programme and participation is subject to a satisfactory outcome of the Garda vetting process.

What are the employment opportunities?
Participation in water based sports and in particular surfing is on the increase in Ireland. This has led to an increase in the demand for highly skilled and qualified Surfing Instructors.
Graduates will seek employment in a surfing schools or activity centres on our coastline. Other graduates may decide to seek employment as Beach Lifeguards.
