The overall aim of the Certificate in Life and Workplace Coaching Special Purpose award is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge skill and competence required to provide life and or workplace coaching in a variety of contexts. Becoming a qualified Life and Workplace Coach, you need to be able to draw from experience and expertise in a specific area, whether it’s life skills or another competency (e.g. – Business, Sport, Management, Leadership, Advocacy etc).

This course will be delivered in a modular format dependant on the choice of the learner.

- Three options – Classroom, Blended and In-house.

- Delivered over 450 hours (including independent study and assessment).

- Delivered over 15 days/ 30 sessions.

REQUIREMENTS
- Individuals looking to become a coach and merge your field of expertise (business, life, physical or other) with accreditation to become a qualified Coach.

- Individuals who have an interest in Coaching and may wish to pursue it as a career.

- Managers and team leaders who have coaching responsibilities in organisations.

- Individuals and teams wanting to qualify as a Coach to help their business and colleagues take the business/ organisation to the next level by supporting employees/ team

- People who wish to gain a formal qualification in Coaching and maybe set up a coaching business.

Careers / Further progression

PThe Special Purpose Certificate in Life and Workplace Coaching (6S3153) is mapped onto the NQF at level 6. The special purpose can be married to your highest qualification to allow you to coach to a level under your highest qualification in your area of expertise (business, life, physical or other).

On completion of this course, you can expect to work within a range of public sector areas including Adult Guidance and Support roles, HSE, FET Sector as well as Private Practice. Many organisations have embraced coaching regarding people management and progression in different business settings and manufacturing environments. Benefits cited by ICF includes Increased Self Awareness (67.6%), better goal setting (taken from EI manual page 109)

Many learners have gone on to start their own successful coaching practice and create new coaching methodologies and standards.

€1,340 for all modules if booked together – schedule will be collated based on learners needs. Further reduction in doing the full major award (Certificate in Advanced Business Management (6M4985) or integration of modules. Grants are also available.

The role is a lot more than being a ‘people person’ with a desire to help others. There are specific skills needed to succeed in this sector, you also need to understand the coaching process, which are founded on explicit principles and ethics, as well as be able to define the functions and objectives of life coaching and the art of advanced and effective communication. There are 3 minor awards making up this programme. Upon successful completion of the 3 modules, the learner may achieve the required 45 credits, making up the Level 6 QQI Special Purpose Award. They will be a qualified coach on completion of all modules.

INDICATIVE CONTENT
- Ensuring that the learner is a qualified coach within the area of their expertise on completion of the programme

- Understanding the processes involved in managing a coaching programme and in designing a coaching contract/agreement that meets current best practice.

- Exploring the importance of the coaching relationship between the coach and the client.

- Constructing and managing a coaching session.

- Exploring different models and techniques of coaching.

- Defining the importance of understanding emotions and emotional intelligence in coaching.

- Developing advanced communications skills to enable them to understand how to get the best from their coachee.

- Understanding learning styles, reflective practices and personality types within the coaching process.

- Exploring the importance of CPD in the coaching process and how they can develop themselves personally and professionally.

- Exploring the Legislative, Regulatory and Ethical Guidelines in the coaching field and evaluate professional standards within the sector.
