Course Description:
This class is suited for those who have some prior experience of painting and would like to work on self-chosen projects with some guidance from an experienced instructor. You may work in whatever medium you choose: oils, acrylics or watercolours.
Course Content:
Painting for intermediates is based on a studio style format, where artists come to work on their own personal project where tuition is delivered in the form of personalised guidance. The eight week course will be peppered with technical demonstrations, exercises in anatomy, discussion on the structures of the art industry and a questioning and developing of the belief structures which are part of the creative process of making and developing artwork. The course is suitable for artists working in any medium who desire to build or develop a practice. The course culminates with the opportunity to work with a model sitting for a long-pose session.
This eight week course is taught by artist and educator Ailbhe O’Connor. Ailbhe holds an undergraduate in Visual Art with a specialisation in painting, and a postgraduate in Cultural Events Management. Ailbhe has over a decades experience working across visual arts, events and education and has worked under and alongside some of the visual artworlds leading names. Ailbhe has an in-depth knowledge of Ireland's art policy structure as well as the private gallery sector, having worked for one of Ireland's most recognised galleries. Ailbhe founded an arts space in Dublin city centre as well as co-founding a successful arts based business. Ailbhe has studied pedagogy and has been working as an educator in painting and life drawing since 2015.
