This course is for anyone who has little or no experience using computers.

Topics include the following:
Basic computer functions; Identification of computer hardware; Types of computer; use of peripherals like keyboard and mouse; Navigating the Windows desktop; Logging on; desktop icons; personalising the desktop; Using Windows Explorer, search box, toolbar, settings, opening files etc.

You will also learn:
how to access the internet; how to use search engines; how to use email and how to set up an email address, reading and responding to emails etc. Other areas covered include: basics of mobile devices/tablets; using touch screens; downloading apps;sending messages and emails from your phone; Video Calling; safety & security; information security; online safety and the importance of passwords.

Bray Institute of Further Education Conditions of Enrolment.

1. Enrolment may be processed for a friend or relative provided it is with their consent.

2. Formation of Classes: Classes are only formed where numbers warrant it. If not viable, fees may, with students’ consent, be adjusted upwards to suit lower demand.

3. Discipline: The student, on enrolment, subscribes to the regulations and is then bound to observe them.

4. Student property: Responsibility cannot be accepted for loss or damage to the property of students. This includes motor cars, motorcycles and bicycles on the campus.

5. Fees must be paid in full before students enter class and are non-refundable unless a class does not form. Refunds are provided online following cancellation of the class. Fees do not include cost of materials, examination fees or registration with professional institutes where relevant.

6. Transfers may only be negotiated through the Enrolment Centre.

7. The Director of Adult Education reserves the right to close a class or vary its hours if this is deemed necessary based on the needs of the Institution. (see points 2 and 5 above)

8. Smoking: Smoking is prohibited by law in any part of the Centre.

9. BIFE is conveniently situated close to the Main Street in Bray and only 5 minutes walk from the DART Station, and is also served by the following Buses: 45, 45a, 84, 85, 184.
