Requirements:
Basic computer and keyboard skills are essential.
An understanding on InDesign / Illustrator / Photoshop knowledge of design software is required.
Access to your own computer outside of class hours is required.

This Computer illustration Graphics module (QQI Level 6) is suitable for individuals who want to build a graphic design portfolio to progress it further and or to access higher education and training, or for those wanting to progress towards working as a designer, in advertising.

Course outline

Graphic Design is the process to advertise / promote products and brands through any media platforms. This course will go in depth on how to produce work on a commercial level to include BRANDING / PACKAGING / ADVERTISING.

Students will learn the process of – A CONCEPT / AN IDEA /A DESIGN / A CAMPAIGN – its structure, and how to formulate them into a visual format that is used worldwide. They will go through the process of all the DESIGN LAWS to ensure a high-end product.

More importantly Students will learn how all the Adobe Products work together as a unit to enhance and develop any designs or campaign using the Industry Standard – Adobe Creative Suite.

Illustrator to create your brand / design / concept.

Photoshop to integrate into high end visuals for promotion that sell.

InDesign for layout to construct any layout / format as a showcase for design.

Premier Pro – to edit motion clips – creating moving Visual Adverts with impact.

Students will learn how to make moving visual clips to create high end adverts – shot on any mobile device but developed in Premier Pro to a high standard.

Inputting Type / Music and Blending clips together Stylishly for a final motion film clip that will promote any Design Campaign.

The courses duration is 22 weeks, and each student will produce a variety of brand products from original design or concept – develop its campaign – using all media – Stills and Film.

Students will be required to produce a variety of Graphic Design Projects to a commercial standard.

Course outline
Graphic Design is the process of visual communication through images, words, or graphic forms. It encourages you to think creatively in order to communicate ideas and concepts that can inform, challenge and transform.

Graphic Design Skills (QQI Level 5) is suitable for individuals who want to build a graphic design portfolio to progress to further and or higher education and training, progress towards working as a designer, or learn design skills to use within their organisation.

Leaning and understanding the Operations / Techniques of the full Adobe Design Package to include Indesign / Illustrator and Photoshop and more Importantly if used correctly how they can all work together to produce High End Quality Work to a Commercial Standard. This is a practical course providing students with the technical graphic design skills necessary for a career in Graphic Design. The course duration is 22 weeks and students will be required to produce a variety of Graphic Design projects such as posters, logo design and stationary design. Candidates will receive certification upon successful course completion. Requirements: Basic computer and keyboard skills are essential. No prior knowledge of design software is required. Access to your own computer outside of class hours is required.

Course Content Includes:
• Evaluate the development of Graphic Design
• Apply and manipulate text digitally to create a graphic design solution for a given brief
• Apply and manipulate both vector and pixel- based imagery to create a graphic design solution
• Use different software packages in creating graphic design solutions
• Critically evaluate the development of a design solution and implement changes based on this appraisal
• Produce a body of work that demonstrates graphic design solutions created for application to numerous different media
• Demonstrate mounting and present work to an appropriate standard for a graphic design portfolio
• Demonstrate research and linear ideas generation
