Entry Requirements
Students must have completed the QQI Level 5 Special Needs Assisting module. Students will also be required to undertake and obtain Garda Clearance and 30 hours work experience in a school setting.

The Special Needs Assistant Certificate is a part time evening course suited to anyone who has an interest in Special Needs Education, who has completed the QQI Level 5 Special Needs Assisting module.
Learners will be required to carry out research on the current provision for an additional need of their choice ands will explore areas such as the difficulties which may be encountered, various educational options available, issues related in integration and inclusion, interventions and behaviour management, relevant skills and strategies to access the curriculum and strategies for coping with stressors in the workplace.
Tutor: Eleanor Glennon.
This course is assessed through a number of assignments which students must complete to demonstrate their understanding of various topics.
Skills Demonstration 50%
Project 50%.
