A fee waiver is in place for applicants in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment. You can check your fee waiver eligibility with Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP), INTREO or your Local Employment Service (LES) office.

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to complete a limited range of manual metal arc welding tasks in a supervised environment.

What will I study ?
-Select the tools, materials and equipment required to complete a limited range of arc welding tasks
-Explain the functions of the various elements of manual metal arc welding equipment
-Set up manual metal arc welding equipment including cables, polarity, current, and electrodes
-Strike, break and maintain an arc to a specified industry standard
-Complete a range of manual arc welding tasks to a specified industry standard to include, lap joints, tee joints, and corner joints
-Apply the appropriate health, safety and personal hygiene procedures when using arc welding equipment
-Demonstrate the application of communications, team working and quality awareness in a workshop environment.
