€245. Examination fee of €20 is payable for non medical card holders for certification of the course. If you have a valid medical card you will be exempt from the examination fee but a copy of this must be emailed on application to nightclasses@mayocollege.ie

This programmed module aims to provide the learner with knowledge of and an appreciation for ecotourism in Ireland’s tourism industry. It aims to provide learners with skills to apply ecotourism principles in a practical setting. Learners will identify the tourism potential of Ireland’s natural biodiverse resources, the benefits of ecotourism and the relationship between commercial tourism development, environmental considerations and the needs of the local population. It covers topics such as access to private land in Ireland, rights of way, nature trails, national parks and monuments, commercial interests, local amenities and nature conservation designations at national, European and International level. Participants will gain an understanding of how principles of conservation may be applied to tourism in terms of the management of visitor sites of natural importance and are encouraged to engage in ecotourism enterprise development with the help of state and private initiatives.
