Entry Requirements
Education: Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 5 when accessing a Level 6 course.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.
Eligibility: Priority will be given to those with less than upper secondlevel education (Leaving Certificate or equivalent).
Application process includes an interview.

Progression Routes: On successful completion of this course students may progress to further education in this field and/or enter employment.

This course is free for those who:
— Have less than upper-second level education
— Are in receipt of social welfare payment
— Have a full medical card
— Are in the workforce with low skill levels and who need opportunities to upgrade their skills in order to advance their career
Fees apply to other applicants.
The purpose of this QQI Level 6 component course is to equip students with the knowledge, skill and competence in the theory and practice underpinning the education and care of those who present with special educational needs to enable the student to assist in the provision of this education and care.
