Social Equality & Disability Studies
The purpose of the Social, Equality and Disability Studies programme is to provide learners with the opportunity to explore areas of interest by identifying the barriers faced by people in society today, especially those with disability. Learners will study a variety of modules and will also have an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in this field.

Duration
1 Year. This is a full-time one-year course and runs from September to May.

Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, or equivalent.
Pre-entry guidance meeting
Mature applicants welcome.
At registration students will be requested to complete the necessary documentation in order to complete a successful garda vetting process. Garda clearance is a mandatory requirement for work placement.

· Students who successfully complete the course may gain entry to Third Level Institutes and Colleges through the Higher Education Links Scheme.

Offers of places will issue following completion of first round pre-guidance meetings
Second Round applications open June 4th 2024.

THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED TO:
• Enable students to explore the theory and practice of the key areas of social studies by exploring a wide range of social issues
• Enable students to understand the needs of people with disabilities and develop an understanding of care provision in the public, private and voluntary sectors
• Develop an awareness of the need for social inclusion and its impact on the lives of individuals, especially those with disabilities
HOW THE COURSE IS TAUGHT
