Social Studies and Youth Work

PLC Post Leaving Cert
5M4732

This one-year course is designed for those who would like to pursue a career in the youth and community sector or progress to further education in the areas of youth work or social studies. It is ideal for anyone who would enjoy working with young people in a variety of social settings, who’s values would include the empowerment of vulnerable people, equality and inclusion and respect for all young people. Dedicated, qualified youth workers have never been more needed or as important to support young people experiencing significant social challenges, especially in the aftermath of the lockdowns as a result of COVID-19. The negative effects on young people’s mental health and social development are evident and highly motivated and energetic individuals are needed more than ever before to support and advocate for social change.
