The aim of this Inclusive Education & Training - Special Needs Assisting (SNA) programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence, to design, promote and implement best practice in inclusive education in a range of contexts and settings and or to progress to higher education and training.

Entry Requirements

Education: NFQ Level 5 in a relevant discipline when accessing a Level 6 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 6 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners) *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above.

Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.

Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to exercise initiative and independence when carrying out course activities.

FURTHER DETAILS
Learners must have successfully completed the Leaving Certificate/LCVP and/or QQI Level 5. Special consideration will be given to mature students (over 23) or others who may not have obtained a Leaving Certificate. Entry procedure is by application and possible interview. This course in Inclusive Education and Training with Disability Studies and Special Needs Assisting, will enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies to implement best practice, in a range of caring and educational environments. Employability Statement
The successful completion of the QQI Level 6 award in Inclusive Education and Training will enable applicants to design, promote and implement best practice in inclusive education in a range of contexts and settings.

Graduates of this course are eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to year one of a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Institutes of Technology and Universities.

Please note that the CETS Childcare Scheme run by the Department of Social Protection does now apply to learners on PLC courses.

PLC Maintenance Grant
All applications for grants must be made online to SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland). Applications for the upcoming academic year will open when the Grants Scheme is announced by the Department of Education and Skills.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to design, promote and implement best practice in inclusive education in a range of contexts and settings and or to progress to higher education and training.

Erasmus + Work placement in Spain.
Selected students will have the opportunity to apply for three-week work experience project in a European city where they can experience another culture; learn the basics of another language & enhance professional & personal knowledge and training. This programme includes the cost of travel and accommodation of participants.

Learners can all achieve a Europass Certificate Supplement with this award.

Learners may also have the opportunity to study Maths (5N1833) as an extra module.
