Target Audience: Registered Children’s Nurses / Registered Nurses / Registered Midwives and Health and Social Care Professionals who provide care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the programme the participant should be able to:

Describe the philosophy and principles of caring for children with a life-limiting condition, in any healthcare setting, by the multidisciplinary team

Discuss the implications of a life-limiting condition for the child and family

Identify the statutory and voluntary agencies that deliver services for children with life-limiting conditions

Discuss appropriate pain management for children with a life-limiting condition

Describe some of the common therapies available for children with life-limiting conditions

Discuss the ethical issues related to palliative care for children
