Entry Requirements

Minimum age is 17 Years. All learners must have a good standard of English.

Currently the Department of Education and Science stipulates that all those gaining full-time employment in schools must have at least 3 passes at Junior Certificate or equivalent.

Course Overview
During this SNA QQI Level 5 + 6 course, you will learn about development and learning in children with special needs and about the role of an SNA. You will learn about child development and behaviour theories.

Learners will also explore different activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development in children with a variety of disabilities. You will learn about EPSEN Act and Irish Legislation and how to implement Individual Educational Plans (IEP’s).

Students must attend at least 80% of classes to graduate with either the Diploma or Certificate of Attendance unless a serious and verifiable reason for further absence is provided.

If completing the course online, attendance and participation is tracked through Moodle.

A pass grade on the written assignment will be required for awarding of the Diploma.

Students are require to do a 60 Hour work experience during the course if they are not already working in the area.
