Blended learning will apply and course will begin with Theory Zoom Classes.

Courses are evening, weekend and part-time with a blended learning approach, some theory classes via zoom and or recorded. Notes for classes can be accessed via Media platform and or the College website.

Entry Requirements

The learners must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Massage, Level 3 Diploma Body Treatments or equivalent or studying equivalent courses.

Option 1: Full Payment of €1750 with application form. Examination fee: €140

Option 2: Deposit €600 with application form and €1150 on first day of course. Examination fee: €140

Option 3: Deposit €750 with application from and 5 payments of €200. Examination fee: €140.

Application Procedure
1. Return the completed application form to the College office.

2. Send the correct Deposit as per course or the deposit that has been agreed with the college. Courses places are only reserved on payment of the deposit.

3. Deposits will be returned if student is unsuccessful in obtaining a place on their chosen course.

4. Once accepted on the course your deposit is non- refundable.

5. Early application is advised as classes are small to allow for individual attention.

6. Interviews where, deemed necessary are held at a mutually agreed time.

Introduction
This course covers anatomy and physiology for sports massage, the principles of injury prevention and management, types of sports injuries, contra-indications and when and when not to treat and the principles of health and fitness that may influence the treatment and recovery.

During the course, the learners focus on the development of wider skills in a sports massage setting, working with others and problem solving in injury management and develop a range of modality techniques, essential for successful performance in employment as a sports massage therapist.

Learners who wish to undertake this qualification must also achieve the Award in Infection Prevention for Complementary Therapies / Clinic Room Infection Control (UIP4) and Sports Massage qualification or a regulated equivalent.

Synopsis of Syllabus.
1. Understand the roles and function of the energy systems in relation to physical activity and exercise.

2. Discuss in detail the structure and function of the muscular system

3. Understand the responses of the nervous system to sport and exercise.

4. Discuss the anatomy and physiology of major joints of the body.

5. Understand the effects of anatomy, physiology, and pathology on human function.

6. Outline in detail the principles of injury prevention and management.

7. Discuss the principles of training and components of fitness.

8. Discuss in detail the principles of soft tissue dysfunction.

9. Be able to conduct assessment for sports massage and sports injuries.

10. Be able to demonstrate professional practice in sports massage.

11. Discuss in detail the effects and benefits of sports massage.

12. Be able to demonstrate sports massage techniques.

13. Be able to conduct pre / post/ inter competition and general massage treatment modalities asper syllabus.

Examinations:
ITEC Practical Examination
ITEC: MCQ 50 MCQ external examination
ITEC: Portfolio of evidence containing: 5 clients treated 3 times each (15).
ITEC: Award Infection Prevention
IISSM Continuous assessment Practical and Theory.

Qualification / Award.

IISSM Advances Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy.
