This course gives students the skills necessary to develop a creative approach to Art. Advice will be given on portfolio selection and layout suitable for application to Third Level colleges.

Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied Programme, QQI Level 4 full major award or equivalent.
Work/life experience may be acceptable for mature students.
Students should be 16 years old or over at the start of the course.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject area and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Competent written and spoken English (CEFR B1 or higher).

Career Options
This course prepares students for work in the area of Art and Design or students may wish to progress to Art at Third Level.
Third Level Progression
Art Level 5 is a Portfolio Preparation course that allows students to develop their portfolio with the aim of progressing to Third Level.
National College of Art & Design NCAD, accept this QQI Level 5 award for 8 of their courses including Fine Art AD204, Fashion Design AD211 and Education & Design or Fine Art for Second Level Teaching AD202.
TU Dublin- City Centre Campus have over 10 art related courses that allow progression from this award including Fine Art TU974, Photography TU976 and Interior Design TU975.
Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art & Design have a wide range of courses that might interest students including Art DL827, Graphic Design DL826 & Photography and Visual Media DL833.

In response to the cost-of-living crisis, DDLETB have implemented a significant reduction in fees for all domestic (EU, EEA, Stamp 4) students undertaking a PLC course in the 2024-2025 academic year.
The only fee payable for full-time and part-time courses in this academic year is: Non-refundable Deposit €50
All other charges including course-specific fees have been waived for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Non-EEA students: Non-EEA nationals should contact the college for details of entry requirements and fees.
