Mathematical Science
It is aimed at those who have a primary degree in a related subject who wish to convert this to a degree in theoretical or mathematical physics. Those holding the Higher Diploma are deemed to have reached the honours degree standard in Mathematical (Theoretical) Physics.

Entry Requirements
A Primary Degree in which Mathematical Physics or equivalent forms a substantial component. Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to Irish university primary degree level.
Minimum English language requirements:
Applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study. The requirements specified are applicable for both EU and International applicants.

Careers / Further progression
The course provides a solid foundation in Theoretical Physics/Applied Mathematics for students who wish to pursue careers in science, engineering, commerce and technology. Graduates gain employment in a wide range of occupations including research, teaching, actuary, banking, software development, computational physics and computer modelling/simulation.

Students take 60 credits of Mathematical Physics from the level 4 and level 3 modules. At least half the credits must be taken at level 4. All module choices are subject to approval by the course director or head of department.
