Learn how to move more freely and with less effort and pain by applying the principles of the Alexander Technique. We all have habits of walking, standing and sitting that are familiar and make us instantly recognisable but those habits aren’t necessarily healthy ones.

In this course you will learn how to sort out your bad habits of slouching on chairs and crouching over mobile phones and replace those habits with healthier ways of sitting and standing. These new habits will help you to build up muscle tone without compromising flexibility and coordination. We will also address the balance issues that arise as we grow older.

Each evening or afternoon we will focus on a particular area of the body and thereby build up a road map of how to use your body more efficiently in everyday activities for example sitting at a desk, carrying shopping, walking, standing in queues, etc.

As part of the course we will focus on how to relax and recover from stress and how to become more resilient when faced with life’s challenges. The course is a practical one and you will be given tips and exercises that you can practise at home.

If you’d like to feel calmer, more flexible, lighter and stronger then this is the course for you. It’s a brilliant preparation if you are recovering from chronic injury or plan to take up an exercise class especially after years of inactivity.

Rosemary Moone worked as a computer programmer before training as an Alexander Technique teacher and has been teaching since 1993. Her many clients include Kinsale College of Further Education, Cork School of Music, Apple, MSD Brinny, Ballymaloe Cookery School and Ashton Adult Education.
