Entry Requirements
Entry is restricted to applicants who have successfully completed all courses in the one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Guidance and Counselling (PGDEGC) or equivalent, with a grade of at least Second Class Honours, grade 1 standard. Applicants are expected to submit a thesis proposal of no less than 2,500 words that identifies a research issue, situates the problem in scholarly literature(s), and proposes a plan of research.
Minimum English language requirements: please visit Maynooth University International Office website for information about English language tests accepted and required scores. The requirements specified are applicable for both EU and non- EU applicants.
Maynooth University's TOEFL code is 8850.
Careers / Further progression
This MEd SGC builds on the PGDSGC (Post Graduate Diploma in School Guidance Counselling) and aims to advance school-based Guidance Counsellors’ professional development. The programme is recognised by the Department of Education and Skills and the National Centre for Guidance in Education as a professional, international qualification in Guidance Counselling.
