Art - Advanced
This advanced certificate offers students the opportunity to further develop their creative talents, exploring a specialised range of creative subjects based on professional practice. Students complete four academic based modules which gives them a comprehensive understanding of the art industry. As part of the course they will complete the necessary paper work to allow them to professionally apply for Percent for Art schemes, exhibitions, residencies etc.

Successful candidates may gain employment in the vast area of Art and Craft as practicing artists, in galleries or on community art projects.
EDUCATION PROGRESSION OPTIONS
CCompletion of the Level 6 Art Major Award allows students to apply directly for advanced entry to a variety of 2nd year BA(hons) programmes such as Ceramics, Sculpture and Combined Media, Painting and Fashion at Limerick I.T. Students may also apply for direct 2nd year entry to ATU Galway, MTU - Crawford College of Art & Design, TU Dubin, IADT and other IT colleges on completion of a full Level 6 award.

There are no tuition fees payable to Abbeyleix Further Education and Training Centre. However, please note there are costs involved in taking a course e.g. materials, additional training and QQI exam fees.
There is free transport available from Portlaoise, Mountmellick, Portarlington, Rathdowney and Mountrath,
FUNDING
