Studio & Live Sound Production
This course provides learners with the technical skills required to get ahead in the professional sound production industry. Throughout the year students participate in applied learning projects, where they explore the various roles associated with the modern audio engineer. These include traditional Studio Recording, Radio Production, Live Sound Engineering and Electronic Music Production. In addition, learners will also be introduced to Digital Movie Processing and Audio Post Production Workflows.

How the course is taught
This award is achieved by working on practical projects using Industry Standard Software, such as Reaper, Pro Tools, Adobe Premiere and a selection of third-party Plugins. Learners are expected to have a reasonable computer and will be guided through the process of preparing to work with the required hardware and software. Throughout the year students are assigned projects and must also prove their competence in several skills demonstrations involving microphones, interfaces, cables, mixers and monitors. At the end of the year there are theory exams in certain subjects.
