The aim of this programme is to give participants an understanding of general management principles and of how Lean Six Sigma is managed in a manufacturing or service organisation. It will explain the methodology of Lean Six Sigma improvement, in particular the various tools and techniques for analysis.

Duration
1 semester
Mondays 7 pm to 9 pm
For online programmes, lectures will be delivered online and recordings of lectures will be available to view in the student’s own time.
Entry Requirements
Mature applicants (i.e over 23 years)
or
Leaving Certificate Grade O6 at ordinary level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate. Two of these subjects must be Mathematics and a language (English or Irish)
or
QQI Level 5 Full award with a minimum of eight modules. or Recognition of Prior Learning (APL/APEL)
Careers / Further progression
Progression from the Certificate in Lean Six Sigma programme is on to the level 6 Certificate in Operations, Quality and Lean Management programme, which is a one year programme.
Entry criteria to this certificate is based on being a mature applicant (i.e over 23 years of age) including an interview covering individuals relevant work experience (typically in the operations, quality and lean management field in excess of 5 years) and Recognition of Prior Learning, a curriculum vitae and completion of the Certificate in Lean Six Sigma programme. Following successful completion, students are eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Science in Quality and Lean Management programme.

The objective is to produce competent workers in the field of Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) with the appropriate multi-disciplinary skills to meet local, regional, and national needs.
Students may be eligible to apply for additional professional accreditation with the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Students will be advised of fees and details while attending the programme.
