How much time do I need?
Study intensity varies across this qualification – you’ll study some modules consecutively, and others you may study in parallel or overlap (increasing your weekly study hours).

Stage 1 comprises four modules (T192, T193, T194 and T176) that you must study in that order over two years.
• T192 and T193 are 30-credit modules studied over 21 weeks, so expect to study each for 14-15 hours per week. You must finish T192 before starting T193.
• T194 and T176 are 30-credit modules studied over 30–31 weeks, so expect to study each for 9-10 hours per week. You must finish T193 before starting T194.

Diploma of Higher Education in Engineering
This diploma is part of our general engineering programme. During your study, you’ll explore the fundamentals of this creative and analytical subject. You’ll develop techniques, concepts and knowledge needed by professional engineers. And choose from specialist modules in engineering design, electronics, mechanical engineering, environmental technologies, energy and sustainability, and mathematical methods.

Key features of the course
• Provides general engineering skills and knowledge with the opportunity to specialise
• Develops your skills in mathematics, which is key to the successful study of engineering
• Incorporates personal and professional development planning and practical work
• Provides a solid foundation for further study, with the option to progress to a BEng (Hons) or an MEng

Stage 1 of this Diploma of Higher Education is the same as our Certificate of Higher Education in Engineering (T48) and Stage 1 of our Bachelor of Engineering (Q65) and Master of Engineering (M04).

This diploma of higher education has two stages, each comprising 120 credits.
• In Stage 1, you’ll study four 30-credit modules.
• In Stage 2, you’ll study three 30-credit core engineering modules and one 30-credit option module.
