Emergency Care Services
This programme provides learners with the foundation knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in the emergency services
This course is designed to introduce you to the challenges and opportunities of working in emergency services. Careers such as Fire Officer, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, Garda or Officer in the Defence Forces will be introduced to you and help you prepare for further study in this area.

Duration
This is a full-time one-year course and runs from September to May.

Mature applicants welcome
At registration students will be requested to complete the necessary documentation in order to complete a successful garda vetting process. Garda clearance is a mandatory requirement for work placement
Careers / Further progression
Progression to Higher Education:
Students who successfully complete the course may gain entry to third level institutes and colleges through the Higher Education Links Scheme. Graduates may also apply to Student Paramedic degree with National Ambulance Service College and UCC
Former students have also progressed to paramedic degree courses (subject to CAO criteria) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) private college courses.

Pre Guidance Meetings where applicable will take place from May 20th 2024
Offers of places will issue following completion of first round pre-guidance meetings
Second Round applications open June 4th 2024.
Pre-entry guidance meetings will take place from August 30th subject to availability of places.
Application system closes on September 30th for 2024 full-time entry.

How the Course is Taught
GTI has developed a style of teaching to meet the needs of a diverse community of learners.
