Entry Requirements
Education: NFQ Level 5 in a relevant discipline when accessing a Level 6 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 6 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners) *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to exercise initiative and independence when carrying out course activities.

Graduates who successfully complete this course will have enhanced opportunities for progression into healthcare related employment. Skills developed on this programme will allow graduates to apply for promotion to administration or management positions in the caring and or healthcare professions.
Graduates of this course are also eligible to apply for entry to a range of Higher Certificate and Degree programmes at Institutes of Technology and Universities

Learners will be able to:

Apply theoretical concepts and abstract thinking with significant underpinning theory to specific health service practice
Apply a comprehensive range of specialised skills and tools to develop strategies required for supervisory management in a range of health service contexts
Select from a range of supervisory management theories, tools and techniques to devise and formulate specific responses to routine and non-routine health service provision
Apply supervisory management concepts, principles, creative thinking and technical skills to a range of health related contexts and situations
Exercise and assume substantial personal responsibility in prioritising, organising and managing own work and or the work of others to achieve defined objectives
Evaluate own learning and assist others to identify their learning styles and needs within a structured learning environment
Reflect on personal and professional practice to inform self understanding and development within a management or supervisory role within a health services context.
