Irish Sign Language is the first language of many hard of hearing and deaf people. Today many hearing people learn sign language as a means of communicating with deaf and partially deaf people. Signs are made using the hands in combination with non-manual features, including eyes, brows, cheeks, lip patterns, tilting the head and some movement of the shoulder and the upper torso.
