Programme Aims
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in the theory, principles and practices underpinning a range of business scenarios and to enable the learner to work independently or in a supervisory capacity in a variety of business contexts and or to progress to higher education and training.

Entry Requirements
Education: NFQ Level 5 in a relevant discipline when accessing a Level 6 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 6 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners)

Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to exercise initiative and independence when carrying out course activities.
Careers / Further progression
Links to 3rd Level Direct entry into year two of the Higher Certificate in Business in Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) and IT Carlow. Students may also make a direct entry application to year two in other colleges. The programme will enhance opportunities in securing an apprenticeship in the area of Financial Services, Accounting Technician or Insurance Practitioner.
Career Options
Holders of a QQI Level 6 Certificate in Business Management may pursue a career in accounting, banking, general business, insurance, marketing and administration.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion, learners will have the knowledge, skills and competence in business management theories and insurance practices required to exercise personal autonomy, work effectively with and take responsibility for the work of others, be able to transfer and apply theoretical concepts to a range of businesses contexts and progress to further and/or higher-level studies.
